Works great but failed at 3 months
Recieved this as a gift and loved it. But two issues. no timer and no way to override the preset temperature settings. Then at about 3 months or so it failed. Went to the store and they said I was using the wrong brand of batteries (?). They sent me packing and I tossed it in the trash when I got home. :2010-09-16 02:03:13
quite accurate; not very flexible
We received one of these as a gift (I didnt purchase it through Amazon). It has only once failed to be spot-on accurate (that one time it let the meat overcook; it may have been because I changed cooking temp several times). It has once or twice been a bit finicky about syncing the base receiver with the remote transmitter but it always synced up after turning both off and back on.
My only real complaint is that it doesnt allow selection of the final temp. I appreciate that they dont want me to be eating raw poultry but I sometimes need the cooking temp to be a bit lower (or higher) than the settings available and for pork and poultry theres only "well done". This means I have to watch the temp myself so not terribly convenient. Still as I mentioned before its been very accurate and the results are exactly what you would want. Its much more likely that my dinner will come out as intended than when I estimate based on experience which is sometimes not sufficient if Im cooki :2010-09-16 02:03:13
Talking meat thermometer
Have used this only once since purchasing but so far it is a great tool for the bbq. Ive gone through several of similar products all of which a quit working after a short period of time. Hopefully this one will last longer. A plus is that the probe is available from the company. The talking feature is much more pleasant than the irritating beeps of other models. :2010-09-16 02:03:13
